Breast Implant Profiles

Breast implants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes. There are multiple different profile options when it comes to choosing breast implants. For round breast implants, the different profiles include Low Profile, Moderate Profile, Moderate Plus Profile, High Profile and Ultra High Profile. Referring to the profile of an implant simply means how much projection the implant has.

High Profile Breast Implants

When dealing with round implants, higher profile implants have more projection than lower profile implants. Higher profile implants have a narrower width, which is what causes the implant to project outwards further and appear to have a more rounded shape. High Profile implants offer a great deal of projection. With a narrow base, the implant appears to have more of a ball shape as opposed to a flattened shape. Many women elect to have these breast implants because they offer more upper pole fullness to the breast.

400cc Smooth Round

The featured patient underwent a breast augmentation and elected to have 400cc High Profile breast implants. It is apparent in the oblique and side view photographs that, prior to augmentation, the patient’s breasts were fuller on the bottom than they were on the top. The implants chosen provided the patient with much more upper pole fullness and gave her breasts an overall even, round shape.

The side view photograph of the patient before and after her breast augmentation highlights the projection of her breast. The 400cc implants have a diameter of 11.9 cm and a projection of 5.0 cm. In comparison, 400cc Moderate Profile breast implants have a diameter  of 13.1 cm and a projection of 4.2 cm. It is visible in the front view photograph that the patient has an ideal amount of space between her breast, providing her with an attractive amount of cleavage. If she were to have had Moderate Profile implants then her breasts would be closer together and not project out as they do.
